Research Committee

The Department Council establishes a Research Committee, with a three-year term, as the body responsible for planning and coordinating scientific activities. The Committee is composed of the Research Coordinator (appointed by the Department Director) and at least seven faculty members and researchers selected by the Council, along with at least one representative of research contract staff; it is supported by technical-administrative personnel.

The Committee drafts and updates its internal regulations and is convened and chaired by the Research Coordinator, who ensures effective internal organization and maintains liaison with the Department’s governing bodies.

The Committee’s main tasks include: coordinating and promoting research activities; securing funding; drafting the strategic research plan with operational objectives; monitoring the scientific performance of staff in accordance with Quality Assurance Guidelines; preparing periodic reports for the Department Council and the annual Monitoring Report; collaborating with University bodies responsible for research quality assurance; promoting multi- and interdisciplinary collaborations and international exchanges; and performing any additional functions delegated by the Council.

The Research Coordinator also participates in the University Committee for Studies and Research and, at the end of each academic year, presents to the Department Council a report on the activities carried out and a plan for the following year.
