Committee for Third Mission and Social Impact

The Committee for Third Mission and Social Impact (CTM/SI) is an advisory body established by the Department Council. It is composed of the Coordinator and no fewer than four faculty and research staff members from the Department, one for each area (Public Engagement, Continuing Education, Clinical Trials, and Spin-offs and Patents). All appointments and elected positions continue until the natural end of their term.

The CTM/SI, convened and chaired by the Coordinator, oversees the internal organization of activities and maintains relations with the Department’s governing bodies.

Specifically, the Committee performs the following functions:

  • promotes and monitors Third Mission / Social Impact (TM/SI) activities, including technology transfer, cultural, social, and educational activities (continuing education and professional consulting), public engagement, and research valorization, in compliance with the Quality Assurance Guidelines;
  • proposes activities and projects to strengthen dialogue and interaction between the University, industry, and society (intellectual property, research, and services commissioned by companies or external organizations);
  • promotes educational and outreach initiatives aimed at audiences outside the University;
  • promotes the valorization of research results;
  • carries out other functions assigned by the Department Council.
